Bartlett Planning Board

Services: Enforcing the Subdivision Regulations which govern the subdivision of land, boundary line adjustments, and condominium subdivision. Meetings are held the first Monday of the month and a Work Session is held on the third Tuesday of the month. Please call ahead to get on the agenda.

Public Notice

To the citizens of the Town of Bartlett;
The Planning Board is changing the method of continuing notification of projects before the
board. As per RSA 676:4 notice to the public in the newspaper for additional hearings is not
required nor shall additional notice be required of an adjourned session as long as the date, time
and place of the adjourned/continued sessions is made known. The initial public newspaper
notification of an application will be posted in the newspaper as per the law.

Please check the Town of Bartlett website for the agenda of any continued meetings and the
public postings at the following locations: Town Hall, Bartlett Post Office, Glen Post Office and
Intervale Post Office.

Any questions can be directed to the Planning Board office on Mondays from 10 am till 6 PM,
Tuesdays from 10 am till 2 PM and Thursdays from 10 am till 2 PM.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

PROPOSED ZONING AMENDMENT

The Bartlett Planning Board will hold a public hearing at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 3, 2025 at the Bartlett Town Hall, 56 Town Hall Road, Intervale, NH to discuss and take public comment on the following proposed zoning amendment:

  • Sewer warrant- Discussion with the public regarding proposed restriction of sewer expansion based on the Master Plan for the Town of Bartlett, which instructs the Planning Board to limit the development of uses not compatible with the rural character of Bartlett, the Planning Board proposes the following zoning amendment:
  • Are you in favor of the following zoning amendment?

To amend Article VI-H Minimum Land Area Requirements, to add the following sentence at the end: The expansion of municipal sewer connections beyond the boundaries of the Town’s current and future precincts/village districts is not allowed, with the exception of allowing the Lower Bartlett Water Precinct to connect to the two pre-planned crossings(as of the date of this amendment)  into the  North Conway Water Precinct sewer system. Rationale:  Maintaining local control of zoning is the primary way to ensure the voters’ ability to protect the rural character of the Town of Bartlett.  There is the potential of losing that local control if the State of New Hampshire limits the Town’s ability to determine the number of dwelling units permitted on buildable lots if those lots have access to sewer connections.

Bartlett Selectmen’s Office

Dates and times of Selectmen’s Meetings may vary, however, they currently are meeting on every other Wednesday at 4:00PM in the meeting room at Town Hall.  Please call or email the office to get on the agenda.  Special times can be arranged for people who cannot attend a regularly scheduled meeting. The staff cannot attend to normal business during the Selectmen’s Meeting, so please plan accordingly. Please note that all documents submitted to the office must have original signatures (no faxes or emails) and become part of the file.

Services: Assessment of property and tax abatements, building permits, permits to occupy and zoning issues, requests for aid, health officers, road maintenance, and other general government issues.

STORAGE CONTAINERS

NEW COMMERCIAL INSPECTION PROCEDURES

Shawn Bergeron Technical Services will no longer be performing commercial construction inspections for the Town of Bartlett.  The Board of Selectmen have made arrangements for the State Fire Marshal’s Office to do the commercial building inspections.  The new procedure is as follows:

COMMERCIAL INSPECTION PROCEDURES

All commercial construction will now be inspected by the NH State Fire Marshal’s Office. Once your building permit has been approved by the town, you will then need to apply to the State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFMO) for permits before any construction may begin.

This is the procedure you will need to follow:

  1. Apply to the Selectmen’s office for a commercial building permit.

  2. Once approved, you will be mailed your permit with an approval letter which must be presented to the Fire Marshal’s Office in order for them to proceed with their review and inspection.

  3. The Fire Marshal’s office works off of an online portal for permitting, plan review, inspections, and documentation. The portal is a completely web-based portal called MyGov. The portal may be found one of two ways:

  • Through the State Building Permit Program from the Division of Fire Safety Website (https://www.firemarshal.dos.nh.gov/):

  • Through the MyGov SFMO Online Portal:

State of New Hampshire Division of Fire Safety | Public Portal (mygov.us)

  1. Once the SFMO receives a permit application, it will go under a plan review and if the reviewer finds that it meets all applicable codes, an invoice will be issued to the applicant and then a permit to start construction. All inspections and documents can be viewed by the applicant and any other contact that they wish to add onto their project (contractor or super). Inspections are recorded within the system with any notes the inspector may add. Once all inspections have been completed and a final inspection conducted, a final inspection letter or certificate of occupancy may be issued.

  2. After construction is complete and you have received your final inspection letter or certificate of occupancy from the SFMO, YOU STILL MUST APPLY TO THE TOWN FOR A PERMIT TO OCCUPY before you can be open to the public for anything that was included in the building permit.

Permits of Assembly and Tent Inspections will be handled through the Selectmen’s Office.  If you require one of these inspections, please contact the Selectmen’s Office and we will direct you from there.  Please plan ahead so that the inspector can be scheduled in a timely manner.

Assessment cards, property file information, or any other information from our office can be obtained in person, by emailing us at selectmen@townofbartlettnh.org , or calling (603) 356-2950 for more information and how to obtain it. Deeds can be obtained from www.carrollcountynhdeeds.gov  (Carroll County) and septic plans are available from NH Dept. of Environmental Services website at www.nh.gov. Most application forms are on our website so please check the Documents section first before contacting our office.
