HOW DO I GET AN ARTICLE ON THE WARRANT
FOR TOWN MEETING?

Please note: Bartlett is NOT an SB2 town and does NOT have a budget committee. Selectmen are responsible for the budget and warrant. Each town in the area is different and follows different laws depending on their structure. This information is for the Town of Bartlett only.

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF SPECIAL ARTICLE PETITIONS FOR THE TOWN MEETING IS:

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2019 - NO LATER THAN 1:00PM (close of business) AT THE SELECTMEN’S OFFICE (NOT THE TOWN CLERK OR POLICE DEPT.)
PETITIONS REQUIRE AT LEAST 25 SIGNATURES OF REGISTERED BARTLETT VOTERS, HOWEVER, IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED YOU GET AT LEAST 30 SIGNATURES.
THE SIGNATURES MUST BE LEGIBLE, IF WE CANNOT READ THEM TO VERIFY THAT THEY ARE ON THE VOTER CHECKLIST, THEY WILL NOT BE COUNTED.
WE SUGGEST THAT YOU HAVE SIGNERS OF THE PETITION PRINT THEIR NAME NEXT TO THEIR SIGNATURE AS WELL AS INCLUDE THEIR RESIDENCE ADDRESS.
WORDING OF ARTICLES VARIES DEPENDING ON THEIR PURPOSE, HOWEVER, EXAMPLES OF ARTICLE WORDING CAN BE FOUND IN PREVIOUS TOWN REPORTS. SELECTMEN CAN ALSO ASSIST YOU WITH WORDING IF CONTACTED IN TIME PRIOR TO SUBMISSION.
